In 1897 Johannes Olsen became a citizen of Gjøvik. He lived and worked at Kampen.
“Øvre Torggate 8-10 consisted of a total of 6 buildings. The oldest of the main buildings (from about 1880) was moved here from Stensli farm on Nordre Toten. In its time, it was both a café and a boarding house with the name Kampen. In the backyard, you will find stables, a brewery, and a house where tanner Olsen’s hides were dried.” — translated from the text on the drawing below.
