    • Married on 3 June 1844 to Sven/Svein Svendsen (12/1/1806 – 11/11/1861) – Children:
      1. Helge Svendson (1846 – ~1904) It’s possible he went to the USA
      2. *David Svendsen (1849 – ?) Went to Bergen where he married Oline M Eriksdatter (1845 – 1903). They had 6 children
      3. Marta Svendsdatter (1852 – 1927). Married in 1881 to Torger Hallsteinsen (1855 – ?) and had 10 children
      4. Svend Svendsen (1855 – 1891) Married in 1878 to Maria Olsdatter (1847 – 1932) and had 5 children
      5. *Kari Svendsdatter (1858 – 1952) married Knut Knutsen Lekve (1860 – 1953) in 1881. They had 10 children, the oldest Anna went to USA and then to Canada.
      6. Anna Svendsdatter (1860 – 1864)
    • Married on 29/03/1873 to Ole Mikkelsen 58 år (widower) No children.

    • No further information is available in the farm books but it is possible that she is the same Ingeborg who in 1855 married Stefan Olsen (1818 – 1906). They had a son Ole and the family went to the US in about 1866, where they had several more children.
  3. 1829 – Lars Davidsson, born 8 Oct 1829, Lekve, Ulvik – died 1907 Wisconsin, USA.
    • He married Jorund Jonsdatter Kvåle (1826 – 1908) in 1857. They had one son, David Larson who became David L Davidson when the family emigrated to Wisconsin, USA just before 1870
  4. 1832 – Marit (Marta) Davidsdatter, born 17 Sept 1832, Lekve, Ulvik – died 1918
    • She had an illegitimate daughter, Marta Sjursdatter (1860 – 1883) with Sjur Johnsen
    • She married Endre Mikkelsen Lekve (~1813 – 1892) on 2 Jul 1836 – They had 5 Children:
      1. Lars Endreseen (1863 -1914) married in 1887 to Ingebjørg Torkjellsdatter (1860 – 1935). They had 5 children
      2. David Endresen Lekve (1864 – 1954) married in 1893 to Gjertrud Ellingsdatter (1866 – 1940). They had 2 sons and all emigrated to North Dakota, USA in 1906.
      3. Mekjell/Mikkel Endresen Skaar (1866 – 1955), married in 1888 to Helena Torgersdatter (1863 – after 1920). They had 4 children.
      4. Kari /Karen Endresdatter (1871 – 1909). In 1897 she married Gjert Johannesen (1866 – 1950) and moved to Bergen. They had 8 children.
      5. Marta Endresdatter (1876 – 1954). She married Lars Gjermundsen Skaar (1877 – 1923) in 1902 and they had 9 children.

    • Married Anna Johannesdatter (1845 – 1925) on 22 Nov. 1865. They emigrated to the US in about 1874. They had the following children:
      1. Kari (= Carrie Davis), (1866, Ulvik – 1945 Wisconsin). Married to Karl Edward Engebretson (1867 Oslo – 1933 La Crosse). They had 4 children
      2. Brita (1871 Ulvik, died around 1875 on the way to the US)
      3. Johannes (= John R Davis) (1874 Rogaland – 1956 Wisconsin), married in 1902, to Tena Ervald (880 Germany – 1977 Wisconsin). They had 2 children.
      4. Brita (= Betsy Davis) (1876 – 1923 Wisconsin), married in 1894 to Paul Olson Nordhus (1859 Norway – 1937 Wisconsin). They had 7 children.
      5. Dina Mary Davis* (1879 – 1956), married to married Joseph Alphonsius Crowley (1873 – 1950). They had one daughter.
      6. David Cornelius Davis (1882 – 1961), married in 1910 to Thea Marie Twesme (1882-1964). They had 3 children

      2. Johan Mathias Olsen / Davidsen (1867 – ?), married to Karoline Hansine Jakobsdatter (1878 – 1968). They had 4 children.
      3. Mathea Oline Olsdatter / Davidsen (1873 – 1966), married Jentoft Ebenhardt Rafaelsen (1867 – ?). They probably didn’t have any children, but fostered.

    • They did not have any children but fostered several according to census data.

      1. 1868 – Anna Malene Sjursdatter Kvale (1868, Ulvik – 1888 Minnesota)
      2. 1869 – Kari (= Carrie) Sjursdatter Kvale (1869, Ulvik -1963, Minnesota ), married in 1885 to Frank Baker (1846 – 1894). They had 3 sons. After his death she remarried in 1897 to Oscar Henry Hanson (1866 – 1925) with whom she had another 5 children.
      3. 1871 – Lars Sjursson Kvale (1871 Ulvik – 1932 Minnesota), married Mary A Riley (1870 – 1958) in 1918. They did not have children.
      4. 1873 – Ingeborg (= Emma) Sjursdatter Kvale* (1873, Ulvik – 1953 Minnesota), married in 1893 to Oscar Swanson (1869 – 1923). They had 6 children.
      5. 1875 – Johanne (= Hanna) Sjursdatter Kvale (1875 Ulvik – 1920 Minnesota). She never married.
      6. 1877 – Katrina Sjursdatter (1877 Ulvik – 1895 Minnesota)

      9. 1885 – Johan (= John) Sjursson Kvale (1885 Minnesota – 1917 Minnesota). He never married.
      10. Martha Serine Kvale (1888 Minnesota – 1969 Minnesota). She married in 1908 to Carl Magnus Anderson (1878 – 1920). They had 4 children. After Carl’s death, she married in 1842 to his brother Frank Oscar Anderson (1874 – 1956). They had no children.
    • Took over the croft at Kvåle but it was to small to support his big family
    • Emigrated to USA in 1881 and lived in Wanamingo, Goodhue, Minnesota, United States
    • He was a stonemason

After her husband died Kari took over the farm with help from her son Nils. Later Sjur joined them and he took over the farm in Kvåle when Kari and Nils moved to Osa.

    • Kari Larsdatter – the main person
      • Niels Davidsen – her son (my great-grandfather), a day labourer
    • Ingeborg Nielsdatter – her 85 year old mother, a welfare recipient
    • Herborg Olsdatter – an unmarried 56-year-old cripple receiving support (could it be her half-sister?)
  • 1875 — Ulvik, Brakøine : (Homesteads in Osa) [Record]
    • Niels Davidsen – Kari’s son (my great-grandfather), a farmer with two cows and five sheep
    • Anna Andersdatter – his wife (my great-grandmother)
      • Kari Nielsdatter – their daughter and Kari’s granddaughter
    • Kari Larsdatter – lodging with her son’s family, she owned a sheep

Death

According to the farm books she died in 1884.
