Anders was illigitimate, born 25 Feb 1817, and home-baptised at Underland. This was registered with the church by Lars Ellingson Underland. His father was given as Jørgen Jørgensen Frystehagen.

Guro was born in Rygg (Brække), on 10 January 1821. She moved from Brække to Hagestad farm in Graven on 15 February 1845, the year she got married.

  3. 1849 – Inga Andersdatter born 18-12-1849; died 06-11-1913 at Voss nursing home;
    • Not married but had a son Ivar Johnsen Osa ( 30 Sept 1873 – 8 Feb 1960) whose father was John Iversen Osa (1854-1828). He was the brother of her brother Peder A Osa’s wife, Guri Iversdatter.
  4. 1853 – Jørgen Andersson Sævarstveit born 10-02-1853; died 1941;
    • Married on 13 June 1878 to Anna Gurina Olsdtr (1860, Sævartveit – 1930)
    • They had 2 daughters Guro (1879-1902) and Gudrun (1904-1992); Gudrun married Sigurd Jørgensen Hallanger (1899-1978) and they had two children: Anna Hallanger (1928-2016) and Jørgen Hallanger (1931-2016). They all lived at Sævartveit. None of them married so the line ends here.
  5. 1856 – Peder (or Per) Andersson Osa born 12-08-1856; died 18 Sept 1929;
    • Married in 1891 to Guri Iversdatter (1852-1925)
    • They just had one daughter, Guro (1892-1973) who married Henrik Julius Gårdsvoll (1891 Lofoten -1979). Guro and Hendrik Gårdsvoll had 5 children: Gudrun Elise (1919-1999) married Anton Hansen (1916- >1999); Aslaug Johanna (1921-1987) married Rolf Randbye (1914-1989); Johan Peder (1923-1998) who married Ragnhild Fenne (1925-2002) and took over the farm; Bjarne (1926-2018) who married Anne Lise (1929-2015) from Kjøbenhavn and settled there; Marta Katrina (1930-?) who married Captain Ole Lynum (1932-?).
  6. 1860 – Lars Andesen Osa born 13-08-1860; died 09-02-1958 in Voss,
    • He was an artist: painter and fiddle player (Norwegian Biographical lexicon – Norwegian only)
    • Married in 1891 to Augusta Sofie Hermine Bernhoft (1865-1929) from Oslo.
    • They had 3 sons, Anders Theodor Kristian Berhnhoft Osa (1897-1901?), Theodor Kristian Berhnhoft Osa (1904-1986), and Sigbjørn Bernhoft Osa (1910-1990) who became a well-known fiddle player.

  7. 1863 – Katrine Andersdatter Osa born in November 1863 (3, 24 or 30); died 2-6-1951
    • Married Adolf Maurits Steenbock Arktander (1847-1919) They did not have any children.

Anders and Guro lived at Syse (brn 2, pl 2) from 1846 to 1866, according to the farm books, and all the children were born there. He was a shoemaker, managed a log saw (sawmill?) and was otherwise a handy man. According to census data he was also a fisherman. Anders and Guro moved to Osa (brn 5, pl 5: Sjohagen) with their children who all considered Osa their home.

Census data

  • 1865 – Syse, Læqve, Ulvik – Anders and Guro with their children Jørgen (13), Peder (10), Lars (4) and Katrina (1). Anders is a ‘Husmand med jord’ – a cottager who rented a small plot of land.
  • 1875 – Osa: Sjohagen, Ulvik – Anders is a a shoemaker and a cottager growing potatoes. They had a cow, a calf, 3 sheep and a 2 goats. Their children Peder, who is also a shoemaker Lars, and Katrina who are both helping his father, are also living with them as was her daughter Inga’s 2 year old son, Ivar Johnsen.
  • 1891 – Osapollen, Osa, Ulvik –  Guro is living with her husband Anders who is no longer renting land, but is a fisherman. Their sons Lars, who is now an artist and Peder, who is a shoemaker, both paying for their board and lodgings; and their daughter Inga with her son Ivar Johnsen .
  • 1900 – Osa: Farm 37, brn 5 pl. Kaarapladse – It was now just Guro and Anders with their daughter Inga. They grew potatoes and had some animals and chickens.
  • 1910 – Osa: Kaaraplads – Guro is now a widow and only her daughter Inga remains with her here.

Death:

They both lived in Osa until their deaths. Anders died on 24 April 1908 and Guro on 25 September 1912.
