Hilda and Oscar Olsen met in Gjøvik in around 1895, a meeting which resulted in the birth of Asbjørn Skogsrud, my maternal grandfather. They did not continue their relationship. She later married Bernt Joakimsen Skogsrud (1880-1922), and then Peter Lorens Sørvik (1887-?)

Death

Hilda died on 7 December 1946

“My dear wife, our mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Hilda Skogsrud Sørvik found rest today after a long and painful illness, 72 1/2 years old. Gjøvik, 7” – translated from a newspaper clipping

Other evidence & information

During the Biri vicarage fire in 1890, the church registers for 1789-1814 and 1854-1877 as well as part of the official archive were destroyed. I cannot find Hilda in the remaining records but have found her confirmation on 6 October 1889 where her date of birth is given as 18 March 1874, Sigstadeie, Biri. Her father was Bernt Kristoffer Hansen, a tailor, and her mother Mathea Jonsdatter. They lived at Volden.

A note has been added to the church record to say she married in 1901 and had an illegitimate child (my grandfather) before that.
