He wanted to travel the world so set off to sea.  I have found ships records for entry to the USA where he is listed as crew.  I know he crossed the equator on at least one of his sailings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When he came back to Norway he joined the local police and worked as a sheriff in various places on the west coast. During the war, he continued to work for the police whilst providing information to the resistance.  <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>He met my mother at his sister&#8217;s house and they married in 1947. He went back to school in the evenings where he studied law and he graduated as a lawyer in 1955.
